Orthoplastics manufactures medical-grade Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE) for orthopaedic applications. Its manufacturing and quality processes include material inspection, product batch testing and traceability.
UHMWPE grades and manufacturing routes
Orthoplastics manufactures UHMWPE from Celanese GUR 1020, 1050 and 1020-E polymers. Ram extrusion produces rod-shaped material, while compression moulding produces sheets. Explore our UHMWPE product range and supply formats.
Inspection and batch testing
Quality inspection includes visual inspection and non-destructive ultrasonic testing. Product batch testing is carried out in accordance with ISO 5834-2, ASTM F648 and customer specifications.
Our testing and laboratory services support UHMWPE materials characterisation and product testing.
Material traceability
Orthoplastics uses traceability techniques during the manufacture of medical-grade products. Manufacturing data is recorded and stored for a minimum of 30 years after manufacture.
