UHMWPE rods and sheets are supplied custom-engineered. Alongside conventional round rods and rectangular sheets, Orthoplastics can supply rods or blocks shaped or cut to any size. Using purpose-built, high-speed machines, Orthoplastics can reduce customer costs by tailoring the shape of the rod or block to the optimum size for the component to be machined. Especially when engineering processes for the manufacture of tibial trays, we can reduce machining times to a minimum.
Orthoplastics has extensive experience of testing materials & products manufactured from Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE), Polyether ether ketone (PEEK) and other polymers primarily within the medical device sector.
The laboratory is UKAS accredited & the majority of our projects are carried out in accordance with ISO17025.
Our 30,000 sq ft facility, 50 kilometers north of Manchester, is home to our machining, finishing, research & development, shipping and warehousing functions.
Our purpose-built 20,000 sq.ft press facility houses a start-of-the-art press with an annual capacity of 400 tons of compression-moulded UHMWPE sheet.
